Sick of the big impersonal hotels with tourists everywhere? Camissa House is a stylish oasis on the slopes of Table Mountain, overlooking the city bowl and the ocean beyond. Personal service and airy modern spaces will make you feel like royalty.

Right at the end of a cul de sac surrounded by trees and nature, the space around Camissa House allows you to breathe in the gorgeous scents of the indigenous fynbos floral kingdom. From here you can hike into the mountains, straight from your room, should you feel a need to work off your meals. Because boy do they feed you! Breakfast, high tea and local drinks are included at Camissa House, so you can indulge at every turn.

The bedrooms are all individually decorated and each room has a slightly different view. You need to decide whether you want a sea and city view or if you prefer a Table Mountain or nature view. The City view rooms have balconies and are a little more expensive. I highly recommend the corner rooms where you can stare up at the imposing mountain and pretend you are nowhere near a city. If you enjoy modern and slightly quirky décor, then you will love these bedrooms with their bold wallpapers and bright art pieces.

Meals are served in the dining room with the open kitchen, in the bar lounge or outside on the pool deck or upstairs viewing deck. You can easily find a private nook to relax in.

Restaurant transfers within a 10 km radius are included, which is hugely useful as many of the top Cape Town restaurants are located outside the city itself. And it saves worrying about taxis and Ubers.

Camissa House is my top choice for honeymooners or couples wanting that extra special touch and personal service. Kids over 12 years are welcome, but I would argue that this is a hotel best suited to adults wanting a quiet retreat.
